This second version of the main gear, 5N-10 can only be used with the second version of the pinion gear, 13N-10. Examine your main gear to determine if it is the 5-10 or 5N-10.
Rather then counting the many teeth, the original 5-10 is an all brass main gear with no center hub bushing.
The 5N-10 main gear has a center hub bushing where it contacts the bridge sleeve. This provides a smooth feel to the reel and prevents noise created from metal on metal contact.
