45GLS Design Change - Pinion, Bearing
IMPORTANT CHANGE FOR 45GLS Reels
Pinion and Pinion Bearing: Were revised by Penn (date of change unknown).
13-45 and 26-40 Right Side Plate Bearing (Smaller diameter 7mm)
Were REPLACED by:
13N-45 and 26N-40 (Larger diameter 8mm)Notes on NEW parts
13N-45: The O.D. (8mm) of the sleeve of the pinion that fits inside the bearing is a larger diameter than the original part, as is the I.D. of the 26N-40 bearing. The newer pinion WILL NOT FIT in the older bearing. The older pinion will be loose inside the newer bearing. Measure O.D. of your pinion gear's sleeve to determine what set of pinon/bearing that you have.

Since you can't walk into Penn reels in Philly anymore, this is the next best thing. Thanks for your services!!!!! Even parts for vintage reels. Delivery is super quick as well.

If you do not find what you are looking for do a Google search with Mystic Reel Parts in the search with your model. I have a Penn 285 and 9 and it took me to the exact page for both. Also have the reel schematics.

I luckily found MysticParts via a Google search. Their website is comprehensive and I was at a loss on what I needed. Fortunately the “contact us” option was user friendly. To my delight I got a personalized and VERY helpful response right away. She asked questions to fully understand my needs and then followed up with links to the right parts. We continued our email exchange regarding my second reel issue and, again, she was extremely knowledgeable and gave me both practical as well as professional solutions.
