Design change after first runs of the SSV series reels
IT AFFECTS: Housing, Housing Cover, Crosswind Gear and Crosswind Gear Screw.
Penn changed the diameter of the post in the housing, the i.d. of the matching crosswind gear that sits on it, the crosswind screw head diameter and the location of the connecting pins/holes between the housing and the cover.

The 45-SSV6500 housing cover has a large pin and a small pin on the inside face. These pins are used to align the screw holes before securing the cover.Some versions of the housing do not allow room for the larger pin and it will need to be ground off or otherwise removed before using this cover plate.
