REEL INFO: The Penn 113HN "Baja Special" is the newest addition to their popular Senator® range of heavy duty star drag reels. Designed with the Baja angler in mind, the "Baja Special" is a narrow 30lb class reel specifically intended to be the very best live bait casting reel on the market. By removing the top cross bar, incorporating the amazing free-spool capability that Penn Senators® are known for, keeping the weight down (only 29 oz.), improving their high speed retrieve to 4.25:1 and adding their new comfort-grip handle, Penn has developed a reel that should be in every Baja anglers tackle arsenal.(Penn Advertising)
HISTORY: The Penn senator was one of Penn's first series. Two seperate Senator series were made at first: One for big game trolling, and one for light tackle fishing. In the early 60's the "Special Senators" were added to the series; reels for fast light tackle game fishing with extra power and a higher Gear
Ratio. In the late 80's the Senator II high speed casting models were added to the Senator-family, and the remaining original big game Senators were replaced by new models. Most of the original big game and light tackle models are not manufactured anymore, but many of the later additions can still be bought today. The Baja Special was originally designed for the US west coast fishery. Replaced in 2014 by the US113 Metal Senator series.
PARTS CHANGES: Main gear was originally high strength manganese-bronze alloy main gears, which Penn later changed to stainless steel when they came out with the US113 Senator series.

If you do not find what you are looking for do a Google search with Mystic Reel Parts in the search with your model. I have a Penn 285 and 9 and it took me to the exact page for both. Also have the reel schematics.

I luckily found MysticParts via a Google search. Their website is comprehensive and I was at a loss on what I needed. Fortunately the “contact us” option was user friendly. To my delight I got a personalized and VERY helpful response right away. She asked questions to fully understand my needs and then followed up with links to the right parts. We continued our email exchange regarding my second reel issue and, again, she was extremely knowledgeable and gave me both practical as well as professional solutions.
